Our Story
Located in the Hilton Village just three short blocks from Main Street, the Academy of Bartending is a small locally-owned business priding itself in educating students in all aspects of bartending.
Owner, Terry Dickerson, saw that there was a great need for a bartending school on the Peninsula of Hampton Roads because she found that far too many bartenders were not well educated in the fundamentals, and lacked the proper training in handling the responsibility of serving alcohol to the general public. Those that did seek a formal training in schools across the nation were not getting a thorough enough education. Terry wanted a school that took the art of mixology seriously, accurately educating students, while learning in a fun and upbeat atmosphere.
Since 2006
the Academy of Bartending has had a contract with the Hampton Coliseum for bartending concerts and other big events.
Current students and graduates regularly bartend functions receiving hands-on experience with not only making drinks, but working with real customers and counting real inventory
